The Pierre & Madeleine Monod Award – French

This award is presented in memory of Drs. Pierre & Madeleine Monod, whose work for the promotion of excellence in teaching & support of French as a Second Language in Alberta. Dr. Pierre Monod was Professor of French at the University of Alberta. Dr. Madeleine Monod was Professor of Education at the University of Alberta. The Monods were responsible for initiating the summer program for teachers of French in Jonquière, Québec.

The award, which consists of a plaque, is presented to a member of the SLIC whose work in education and in the promotion of French as a second language (FSL) in Alberta is exceptional. The candidate is to be nominated by a Member of SLIC.

The Pierre & Madeleine Monod Award – International Languages

This award is presented in memory of Drs. Pierre & Madeleine Monod, whose work for the promotion of excellence in teaching & support of second languages in Alberta is renowned.

The award, which consists of a plaque, is presented to a member of the SLIC whose work in second language education (other than French) in Alberta is exceptional. The candidate is to be nominated by a Member of SLIC.

The Geneviève Balogun Multicultural Award

This award is presented to highlight the multicultural education focus of the SLIC.

The Award, which consists of a plaque, is presented to a member of the SLIC whose work in multicultural education in Alberta is exceptional. The candidate is to be nominated by a member of SLIC.
